Font problem with the display of Chinese content in the Telegram Windows client
For a long time, the display of Chinese characters in the TG client has been the worst of the worst.
As the successful KSYX says
门上插刀 直字拐弯 天顶加盖 船顶漏雨
Such poor display quality is frustrating, even infuriating.
To solve this problem, I went online and looked up information.
Here is my current system information
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Version: 21H2
OS Build: 22000.318
Language: EN-US ZH-CN
Telegram Version: 3.2.1 X64
Start with the FontMod project.
After I learned about Issue70 ,this method failed
Then I adjusted the Fontlink setting in the registry
Open Registry Editor and go to
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontLink\SystemLink\Segoe UI
Change the value to the following content
TAHOMA.TTF,Tahoma
MSYH.TTC,Microsoft YaHei UI,128,96
MSYH.TTC,Microsoft YaHei UI
MSJH.TTC,Microsoft Jhenghei UI,128,96
MSJH.TTC,Microsoft Jhenghei UI
MEIRYO.TTC,Meiryo UI,128,96
MEIRYO.TTC,Meiryo UI
SIMSUN.TTC,SimSun
MINGLIU.TTC,PMingLiU
MSGOTHIC.TTC,MS UI Gothic
MALGUN.TTF,Malgun Gothic,128,96

However the problem still remains.
This problem has been bothering me for a long time, until today I was chatting in the TG group and someone told me that he had changed the region format to China, Chinese and everything worked fine.
Open Windows Settings, Navigate to Time and Language, then Language & Region , in the region Section, change regional format to Chinese (Simplified, China) .
Restart the Telegram client, and everything worked fine.
